As most of you know, my hair is natural. I no longer
chemically relax it. So, whenever I get my hands on something that I think will
be amazing for my hair, I will try it and tell you about it. It doesn’t happen
often because well, I typically try and discuss makeup. But healthy hair is
also a part of beauty. So I will take this slight detour. I recently tried
Journey hair growth products by Alicia Nicole. The products were created to
promote consistent hair growth and moisture. As a kinky curly girl, these are
two of my biggest concerns. My hair is thin and likes to break for any reason.
So I want to make sure that I maintain my length as well as retain moisture.
Here are the products I used on my most recent wash day and my 1st
impression of them.
1.
Stimulation Oil: The Stimulation oil comes in a
small glass container with a suction top to assist with neatly removing the
product from the bottle. The product contains Rosemary and Mint Oil. According
to the packaging, it is supposed to stimulate and improve circulation to the
scalp thus encouraging hair growth, Increase shine, fights premature graying,
and relieves irritate, dry, flaky and dandruff ridden scalps. I first wet my
hair with my water mixture (olive oil, water, and mint oil) applied Herbal
Essence Conditioner, then applied the Stimulation Oil to my hair and scalp. I
parted my hair into four sections in order to make sure that the product coated
every strand.
2.
Hot Oil Overnight Conditioner: Next, I applied
the Hot Oil Over Night Conditioner. This product came in a glass jar as well
and contains amia and coconut oil. It also has a suction top for easy and neat
application. I applied this after the stimulation oil, detangled with a wide
tooth comb, then twisted each section. This product is said to also fight
premature graying and promote hair growth.
3.
Ginger Sweeps and Ginger Edge Massage Oil: I
used these two products together. The Ginger Sweeps comes in a long bar. It is
made of ginger, cocoa, and coconut oil. The Ginger massage oil comes in a small
jar and is pure ginger oil. I dipped part of the ginger sweep into the massage
oil, and rubbed it in a circular motion along my edges. Both of these products together
are said to promote edge re-growth. This is very much needed and the one
product I was really excited to try. I then applied a plastic cap to my head,
followed by my satin bonnet, and went to sleep. If you don’t want to keep these
products in over night, the recommended time frame is 20 minutes to an hour.
4.
Hair Growth Serum: The next morning, I did my
normal wash routine. Rinsed the products out of my hair and added a
conditioner. I then sprayed my hair with the Hair Growth Serum. This product
has Vitamin E and Biotin in it. After I sprayed my hair, I applied my normal
moisturizer and olive oil and twisted it up to prepare my hair for the
protective style I decided to wear that day.
First Impression? As a lot of you know, my hair is color
treated. When I took my crochet braids out, the color processed hair was very
dry and brittle. These products restored the softness to that part of my hair.
I am loving the Ginger Sweeps and Edge Massage oil. The edges of my hair are
the parts that get ignored the most. As a result, it is the weakest part of my
hair. These two products help my edges retain moisture. You can also use this
product for any thin spots on your head. So it is not just for the edges. My
hair was very soft and shiny after using the Stimulation Oil and Hot Oil
Treatments. I also use the Hair Growth Serum Daily. I am finding that I do not
have to apply oil to my hair as often because it doesn’t feel crazy dry. I will
definitely use this product for the next 30 days to see how my hair responds to
the products. I will provide length checks as well. But so far, so good. I am definitely
here for this product line. The concern I do have is that they are all glass
containers. I’m crazy clumsy. So I am always afraid that I will break it. Does
this stop me from using the product? No. It will just require me to pay super
close attention to what the heck I’m doing lbvs. So that is definitely a
cautionary warning. Handle with care. But the packaging itself is beautiful. It
feels very chic and sophisticated. The hair products also do not have an
overpowering scent. Some of our products can smell very floral. But the owner
did an amazing job at making sure that the scents weren’t too loud. Mint, if
overdone, can make you tear up. I have pure mint oil and I found this out the
hard way. But it is very subtle. I also like the suction tops. I can be really
messy when it comes to putting products in my hair, especially oil. I noticed
that aside from my olive oil, my mess was really contained to one area. More
information on this product line to come. So far, I will give it two thumbs up!
