Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Creams: First Impression

Yup, this is pretty impromptu. See, what had happen was, I originally went to Wal-Mart just to buy the rest of the Milani Amore Mattalics collection. They didn't have it. But, they had the Amore Matte Collection that I could not find ANYWHERE! So, me being me, I was like yasssss let's do it Aly. (LOL). So I grabbed 3 colors from the line there: Covet, Devotion, and Precious. Here are my initial thoughts:

Milani Cosmetics Amore Matte Lip Creams (L to R): Precious, Devotion, and Covet

The first thing I noticed when I swatched them on my arm was, of course, the scent. The scent is mild and floral. There to hide the product smell. That's fine. I expected it after realizing that the Mattalics collection I love has the same scent. No worries there. Nice job on the consistency Milani. I timed how long it took for these babies to turn matte. It took just under 7 minutes. They are not kiss proof however. Well, not 100%. We'll say about 98%. On the lips, when I tried it on, I got a little transfer. On my wrist, I got a lot of transfer. It was also very tacky on my wrist. But not on my lips. I don't really know what that is all about. Swatches are below.

I tried the shade Covet on my lips while I let the swatches dry. Like the Mattalics Lip Creams, they felt very light weight and comfortable on the lips. I love that. I highly recommend these lippies to someone who wants to try the matte liquid lipstick. It will prepare you for the other brands on the market that are a tad more drying than these. There's nothing wrong with them. But if you're not used to it, it may feel weird to you. The color of these lippies are pretty opaque for the most part. I did notice a little patchiness on the lips. Not so much in the swatches. I'm definitely going to look into this more when I do a look with them. I will also do a food and drink test with them. Those results will come at a later date. All in all, I like these lippies so far. This is a great addition to the liquid lipstick craze and they're not super expensive. I paid $7.97 a piece for these lippies at Wal-Mart. You can also find these at your local drugstore and on Milani's website. www.milanicosmetics.com.

Until Next Time,

Benefit Cosmetics: First Impression

I've used Benefit products before. Their Roller Lash Mascara is among one of my favorite mascaras of all time. So when I received a few more products from them to review, I was very excited and thrilled to try it! So the products I received are below: The Porefessional Face Primer, Hoola Matte Bronzer, and Dallas Dusty Rose Face Powder.

Pictured: Porefessional Face Primer, Dallas Dusty Rose Face Powder, and Hoola Matte Bronzer

1. Porefessional Face Primer. I applied a little bit of the primer to the back of my hand the first time I used it. The first thing I noticed was there was a very light fragrance. Nothing overwhelming. Pretty, but light. As I spread it on the back of my hand, I noticed that the texture was velvety and easy to spread. You know I do not like primers that you have to put elbow into in order to get it onto the skin. So this was definitely a huge plus for me. I also liked that it did not take long to sink into the skin. There wasn't a lot of spreading it around in order to get the product to absorb onto my hand. Two thumbs up for that! When I tried it on my face, I did notice a difference in how my foundation looked. My foundation looked more even and set. I had a few people tell me that the complexion was flawless. So that was a major plus!! So far, this primer gets two thumbs up!!

2. Hoola Bronzer. I was super excited to try the Hoola Bronzer and nervous at the same time. I had seen it of course everywhere else. But my biggest concern was if it would be dark enough for my skin tone. I'm happy to report that this bronzer definitely is dark enough!! I opened it up and swatched it on the palm of my hand first. I loved the packaging and the brush that came with it. The bristles on the bronzer brush in the package is very soft. I will probably always use that brush with that bronzer. I loved the way that is swatched. It is a very natural bronzer. It wasn't dark. When I applied it to my face to bronze with, I noticed that the color is buildable. So if you want more color in your face, you can definitely build the color on by continuing to apply the product. It still looked very natural and glowy. I'm totally liking the Hoola Bronzer!!

3. Dallas Dusty Rose Face Powder. Upon inspection, this face powder looks like a bronzer. You can't really tell the difference until you swatch it. On the skin, you can definitely see that it is a dusty rose color. I read on Benefit's website that it doubles as a blush and bronzer. On me, this will definitely be used as a blush. It is not dark enough for me to bronze with. I'm ok with that. The reason I am ok is because I have the Hoola Bronzer. But together, they are gorgeous. I have been into rose colors a lot lately. So this one was definitely right up my alley. This powder also has a scent, very similar to the face primer. I like the consistency. I also like that the fragrance isn't bother me. Using things with fragrance in it typically breaks me out. I don't know if my body just grew out of it or if it's just not bothering me. But so far, I have not had a reaction to it at all. Here are the swatches below so that you can see the difference between two.

All in all, my first impression of this two thumbs up for Benefit. I honestly didn't think I wouldn't like it. The products that I purchased from this company prior to receiving these products are all amaze balls. Huge thank you to Benefit Cosmetics for sending me these items to try out. I truly appreciate it!Here is my final look with it. I will definitely write a final review in a few weeks on all of these products very soon! You can purchase these products at www.benefitcosmetics.com, www.sephora.com, and www.ulta.com.

Love For Lashes- Newest Lash Company on the online Beauty Scene

I have mentioned these lashes a dozen times. Literally. I figured since I have had these same pair of lashes picture below since February 23, 2016 and BOTH pair are still usable and in tact, that I should write a review on them. That is crazy impressive. More on that in a second. Allow me to introduce to you, Love For Lashes.

Love For Lashes Mink Lashes in styles Shameless (above) and Coco (below)

I found their Instagram page back in February and decided to check them out. I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and try lashes that are more dramatic. Thus, these two styles made it into my cart. Love For Lashes is a Vancouver based lash company that launched in 2013. The lashes in their Luxury Collection are 100% Siberian Mink, Cruelty Free, and Hypoallergenic. Their Pink Collection features Synthetic Lashes.Their prices are phenomenal! All the prices listed on their website are in CAD. Which means the prices are cheaper for US citizens. In USD, the style Coco is around $9.34 and Shameless is about $8.57. For the lashes to be synthetic, they are absolutely amazing. And as I mentioned before, they are still intact and I have had them for at least 2 and a half months (Disclaimer: I do not wear these lashes everyday. But they are sturdy. I'm sure if you wear them everyday, they won't last 2 and a half months. But if you're anything like me and switch lashes a lot, you will get good use out of them.) Their mink lashes figure to about $22 USD, which is still cheaper than most US based brands that sell mink lashes. This company totally gets two thumbs up as far as quality and pricing is concerned.

Now both Coco and Shameless are bold and dramatic lashes. So I typically only wear them when I am doing bold and colorful looks. I tend to wear Coco more than Shameless. No particular reason. I said to myself "Self?" Myself said "Yes Aly?" So I went "We need to start rocking Shameless more in pics ok?" LOL! Pictured below are looks I have done with both sets of lashes so you can see them in action.

Now how do they measure up to popular lashes? As you all know, my favorite pair of lashes is Iconic Lashes by House of Lashes. So we will use them as base comparison. I will have to say that they are slightly more durable that HOL. I have accidentally destroyed a pair of Iconic's recently that I bought around the same time that I bought LFL. (Don't worry, I have like 3 more pairs on deck.) The lashes are a lot softer than HOL. Now, Iconic is more of an everyday lash as opposed to the two styles I purchased. (Unless you like that type of daily drama.) But looking at the website, I spy with my little eye an HOL Iconic dupe..... Pictured below. Now I have not tried these.... yet. But please believe that I will. And when I do, I will do a side by side comparison of the two lashes. But I am completely here for Love For Lashes. Here is a link to their website. www.loveforlashes.ca Remember US residents, the prices will be cheaper than stated. And shipping is free on all orders $45 and up.* (*Only applies to residents in North America, so US and CA).

Much Luv,

How I got into the Miss Jetset Cover Model Competition

So, you all know the weirdest things happen to me right? I know you have been seeing me talk about this Model Competition. And you have questions. I mean I would too if the person I read and watch on a regular basis that talks about beauty out of nowhere entered a modeling competition. Ok so here is what happened, lbs.

So, I received an email from one of the reps at Jetset Magazine telling me about the competition. I never really thought of myself as a model. I'm 4'11 and on the thicker side. Unless it was kids clothes, I didn't really know what I would model exactly. I always thought the pics of myself that I posted on instagram (@alyjaemua for those who aren't following me) were nice. But never model worthy. I had a few people tell me that I could be one. But I completely dismissed it. It just wasn't something that I strived to be. I love what I do. I love talking to you guys about make or whatever. I love new discoveries and interacting with you all. That's my thing. I'm sure it will always be my thing. But I thought about what I wanted to represent you know. I wanted to be the new perspective of beauty. Beauty comes in all shapes, colors, and sizes. So why not enter? So I am using this opportunity to show beauty from my view. I'm super excited about this journey as well. I'm grateful to God that He has pushed me in a direction that I didn't see myself going towards. I don't know where this will end up. I know of course I would love to win! But I am going to allow what is for me to happen in my life. So, that's how I got into this thing. You can vote for me daily by clicking on the link here: https://www.jetsetmag.com/model-search/vote/alesha-alexander You can also purchase votes. Purchase votes will be donated to the B positive foundation that helps families with children battling cancer. I definitely have a soft spot for this. If you purchase at least 10 votes, you can enter to win a personal video message from me! So thanks in advance for voting for me. Let's see how far we can get me!

Much Luv,

Aly
