Dodo Mink Lashes: Great Lashes for an Even Better Price

Mink lashes are literally the hottest thing walking in the beauty industry at the moment. But the trend that I have seen is that they are very pricey! I mean rightfully so. We're using mink hair for crying out loud. So when I stumbled onto Dodo lashes, I couldn't believe the price. $5 per pair. The lashes are handmade and are cruelty free. No need to hurt the precious animal just so we can look pretty and bat our eye lashes. LBS. These lashes took a minute to ship to me when I received them. I noticed why when I got them. They're definitely being shipped from outside the US. The packaging was pretty nice. I received style D201 to review. Here they are in the package below:

Dodo Mink Lashes Style D201

What I like about these lashes is that they are very easy to use. I love this style because they are wearable daily. They're not too dramatic or heavy on the eyes. They look and feel very natural. You can tell that time was taken to make these as beautiful as possible. I have used them so many times since I received them in the mail. And now, I am recommending them to you all. I also have a code for you to receive a discount on them. A discount on lashes that only cost $5.00?!?!?!?! Yes. A discount lol. When you purchase your lashes from www.dodolashes.com, my code, alyjae, will get you 5% off of your purchase. Shipping is free when you spend $30 or more. These lashes are most definitely a steal. Here are some more pics below of my looks with these lashes.

Not Your Typical Natural Hair Journey Story....

If you are familiar with the natural hair community, then you have seen all of those wonderful stories. Girl spends years using the creamy crack. Girl hair is damaged. Girl gets fed up. Girl either transitions for 6 months (Where did you find that type of patience from because I need some badly. lol) OR Girl just gets bold and cuts her hair off like Demi Moore in GI: Jane. I can assure you, this story that you are about to read is not one of those stories. It is much different and well, definitely a move that I will pull.

So, picture it, Sicily, 1912. My hair is relaxed and it is time for my 6-week touch up. I was relaxing my hair myself (Bad Idea #1), and I had a slight dilemma. I was having a serious breakout with my eczema and it was all in my scalp. So, I thought that if I just put a bunch of Vaseline on my head that I would be able to relax the naps without burning my scalp (Bad Idea #2). Welp, that didn't workout at all the way I planned it. 75% of the hair I had on my head at the time fell out! Like on the floor. You remember that scene in What's Love Got To Do With It when Tina (Angela Bassett) was getting her hair done and it started coming out in clumps? Yeah that happened in real life. So, I was forced to do a big chop and wear wigs to hide my bald head. At the time, I was highly insecure. I was afraid of what people would say about my hair. I definitely didn't want to be made fun of at the time. That was January 2014. Fast-Forward to that October. I had been going through a lot at that time mentally and was very stressed out. Well, my hair fell out again because of that. This time, it was only lie 30% of my hair. But it was a significant amount. This time, I decided to big chop all of my hair myself. Instead of buying pre-made wigs, I made my own. I wore my creations for 8 months before I upgraded to crochet braids and box braids. My hair still wasn't at the length I wanted it to be. I was still slightly insecure about it. Eventually, I gained confidence in my natural curls. Almost a year to date to the Second Big Chop. I say this because it was then that I truly fell in love with my natural curl pattern. While I loved my wigs and loved making them, I felt like I didn't need to do it as much. I knew that I would want them for stand-by purpose. Because lets be honest here. Natural hair maintenance is a choir. You have to pre-poo, then real poo, then post-poo, the condition, then rinse, then style. I'm sorry, that is a whole lot of pooing (insert immature giggle here). Although my wash day routine takes forever, I still wouldn't trade it for the world. I honestly love my hair the way it is. I even dyed it the color I wanted it to be. I will still make wigs and rock protective styles. Winter can be brutal here in Chicago. I would rather protect my kinky curly tresses and cover them then to risk another fall out episode. Not this go around no. I am going to make some wigs with hair that I will be purchasing from www.beyoutifulhaircollection.com soon. I have a coupon code for you to use if you want to purchase a few bundles. The code is alyjae. I will be leaving some pics below of my wig creations and my actual natural hair!

AlyJae Beauty: The beginning of a new Beauty Era

Why haven't I spoke on my own store yet, I am not sure. But hey, there is no reason I cannot do it right now. I came up with the name in the most simplest manner. I combined my nickname and my daughter's nickname. My nickname is Aly and her's is Jae, short for Jaeda. My idea behind this store give an exclusive shopping experience of brands that you can't really find all together anywhere else in one location. The first company I collaborated with was Beauty For Real. They have an amazing product line and are a big hit in the Miami, FL area. From there, I searched for more companies to add to my store. But I didn't want to just add anyone. I specifically tried the products out before I began to sell them. I don't want to sell or promote any product that I knew I wouldn't wear myself. Integrity is huge to me. I didn't just want to make money. I wanted to promote products and individuals that had so much talent but did not have the following I felt they deserved. That is how the Brand Ambassador Program was formed.

When I first started reaching out to Beauty Bloggers and Makeup Artists to be apart of this program, I didn't get a response right away. I got a lot of people rejecting it. I knew what I wanted to do, but I hadn't gone about it the right way. I changed a few things around, and the BA program and AlyJae Family grew almost overnight. We now have two Brand Ambassador Managers and over 20 very talented Brand Ambassadors promoting and supporting the company. I call it a family because that is what it is. We accept everyone who is in the beauty industry. So if you are reading this and are interested in being apart of this family of ours, please email us your 4 pictures of your work and experience to alyjaebeauty@gmail.com.

The products that we carry are all amazing in their own right and will truly reach high levels of recognition. The products are as follows: Beauty For Real, Batlash Premium Lashes, Nia Cosmetics, Nicolet Beauty, and Solo Noir. All of these product lines are wonderful. We will soon be adding more lines as well as creating one for the store specifically. AlyJae Beauty Cosmetics will launch late winter 2016, starting off first with eyeshadows. We will also be adding Femi Cosmetics to the mix, who carries an amazing brand of loose pigment eyeshadows. I will also be looking for Brand Ambassador's worldwide starting at the top of 2016. So if you are interested, please email us at alyjaebeauty@gmail.com. Our store is brand new but is making a major dent in the beauty industry. Go check us out at www,alyjaebeauty.com!

Much Luv,

Aly

Drugstore Series: Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color and Maybelline Colour Blur First Impression

So, I am going to break this blog up into two parts. Why? Because I have like 15 other things to demo and do looks with. The best part about this is, I have two weeks to do all of this because school is out!!!! I'm so friggin excited. LOL! But, I'm starting a series here called the Drugstore Series. I mean, a lot of the makeup I use isn't high end.... ok I might be lying. lol. 40% of the makeup I use is not high end. I am definitely a frequenter of the cosmetic section at Target/WalMart/Walgreens/CVS. My addiction is real. ANYWAY, I heard that Revlon and Maybelline had new products coming out and I wanted to try them. I bought the Revlon HD Ultra Matte Lip Color in HD Passion and the Maybelline Colour Blur in Plum Perfect. The first thing I will say is that the packaging was misleading. I thought both shades were going to be way darker than they actually were. Now this wasn't a bad thing because I truly liked both shades once I swatched them. So here are my full first impressions of both products. Let's go in alphabetical order shall we?

Maybelline Colour Blur in Plum Perfect: Ok. So I like the shade. I wish it was darker like the packaging made it look. But I like the color. The reason I like it is because I have 3 other shades just like it. Those shades are Yorba Linda by Nicolet Beauty (available at my store www.alyjaebeauty.com), KatVon D Everlasting Lipstick in Vampira, and Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in LAX. Why am I hoarding this dark red color? I have not one clue. I liked that it was almost pencil form. It made the application way easier to apply. I didn't understand what the plastic thing on the end was for. So I went to YouTube and watched ItsJudyTime's First Impression video (I'll link it below so you all can watch it as well) and let her explain to me what it's for. So word on the street is that it's supposed to be for this reverse ombre' effect? When I tried it, I didn't care for it. I agreed with Judy when she said that it looks unfinished. It almost looked like you ate the outside part of your lipstick off. I would say try it to see if you like using it that way, but it didn't look nice on me. It is not kiss proof like at all. So if you are looking for your lipstick to not budge, this isn't the product I would recommend for that. It doesn't wear off easily however. The packaging is also slim and makes it easy to carry around for reapplying purposes. Over time it felt a little drying. But I'm used to it because I wear so many liquid lipsticks. Honestly didn't bother me. I would totally recommend this product for an everyday lipstick use. I think it is perfect for on the go and to just throw on for just because. It is extremely convenient and easy to apply. This product gets a two thumbs up from me! Great Job Maybelline!!!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lip Color: So, prior to trying it, I had already heard a few things about this product. One of the things that I noticed first even when deciding to try it out was that it did not have a lot of color choices. There are only 8 shades to choose from and this shade I purchased is the darkest one. I truly hope they come out with more shades. Why? I also give this a two thumbs up for convenient everyday use. The wand is very was to control and makes the lipstick easy to apply. The formula also is non-drying. It is very creamy in texture. I wouldn't give this a 100% matte look because it does have a sheen to it. The color pay off is pretty nice. I was impressed that the pink looked nice on my skin tone. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the scent. It definitely had a floral smell to mask the product smell. But I'm allergic to fragrance. So I know this is something that in the long run can break me out. However, I do know that not everyone has this problem. Which is why I say if you want something easy for everyday wear, buy this product. It is very convenient and might I add, the packaging is super cute. It looks crazy high end with the frosted tube and silver top! Me likey Revlon. We need more colors!!!!!

The first impression of both of these products were awesome sauce. I will do my final analysis on them this coming week. I just want a few more days to try them out, see how they wear throughout the week. You know, all that Jazz. I have pics below of what they look like swatched and packaged. Leave all questions and comments below!!

Until next time beauties,

Aly

Did I miss a product? Liquid Lipstick Search

Ok, so I know I reviewed several brands that carry matte lipsticks. I just want to make sure that I didn't miss any. I did an ombré look yesterday using Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in LAX and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo. Why didn't I do a blog on NYX? Because I think everyone knows by now that I hoard NYX products. Especially their matte lip creams. I need to get their Liquid Suede lippies. I know, I know I'm VERY TARDY. But they were always sold out!!! Lol. I also need to order and try Beauty Bakerie's matte lipsticks. Their lipsticks don't move at all. Stila is also on my list as well as Tarte. Oooooo and Revlon's Ultra Matte HD lipsticks if I can ever find them in a store!! But what else. Let me know what's out there guys. I hope I'm not missing anything.... Leave your suggestions in the comments!!!

Colourpop Review: Definitely Love Them

Ok, so I know I did a review on the Ultra Matte Lipsticks already. But now that I own several shades plus several Super Shock Eye Shadows, I can give my 100% opinion on this brand. Let's start with the Super Shock Shadows:

My first impression of them is that they were super creamy. I was initially concerned about how well they would blend. But, I was soon proven wrong. Blending was surprisingly easy. I was very impressed that fact that the lines seemed to just blend effortlessly away. The first shadows I purchased were Central Perk and So Quiche. I have recently acquired Coconut, Bae, and Stereo. I LOVE BAE!!!! It is honestly my favorite shade. I think it is the whole duo chrome thing. I'm obsessed with it recently. So Quiche is my second favorite. I think I can wear that color every single day. Recently, I have included a Colourpop shadow in the last 3 looks I have done on IG. Let me know what you guys think? I also used Colourpop's Crème Gel Liner in Swerve. LOVE THIS as well!!! It is easy to work with and stays in place. I was concerned about being able to use this. I didn't trust my own steady hand.  But I think with practicing so much with the Stila eyeliner that I was able to get the hang of it. I loved that it didn't run. I have very watery eyes. However, I didn't have to reapply in the area that always seems to run. This is definitely a favorite of mine right now.

Since you already know how I feel about the shade Zipper, I'll just start with the shade I received after that one. I got the shade StingRaye. The minute I realized it was a dupe for ABH Liquid Lipstick in Veronica, I needed the shade in my life. The formula of StingRaye is different from the others. It is a lot creamer than the others. It is also isn't kiss proof. But the shade is EVERYTHING!! I seriously do love the shade. It has stayed in my purse as an impromptu lip color in case I go somewhere nice lol. I wonder if the shade will be permanent? I need to investigate that. If any of you all know, please let me know. The next series of colors I got were Tulle, LAX, Guess, and Kapow. Here are my favorite shades in order: Tulle, StingRaye, Kapow, LAX, Guess, Zipper. Tulle is the how I wanted StingRaye to look on me. However, it doesn't make me not like StingRaye. It just makes me like Tulle more than StingRaye. I keep both in my purse lol. Not all of them go on the same way. The pigment in some is not as intense as all of them. LAX is absolutely gorgeous, but it was a little streaky for me. Kapow did not do that. Kapow was gorgeous and I am looking for a reason to wear it somewhere. As soon as I figure it out.... I would love for the formula to be consistent with all of the shades. The darker shades seem to be less pigmented and can be streaky. Will it stop me from buying their Ultra Matte Lip Shades? No. I honestly want all of them. I tend to layer the ones that are streaky. I think the reason it doesn't bother me is because, as a whole, Coloupop is an amazing product line. No product line is 100% perfect. But they have amazing customer service and an overall great and affordable line. I got an excellent deal plus free shipping! They have me as a permanent customer. I highly recommend all of the shades that I have purchased.  Visit www.colourpop.com to shop the products I have plus others!

Matte Lipstick obsession part 3: Nicolet Beauty

Ok, so there is a slight possibility that this post may come off as biased because I sell this product in my store. But I promise you on everything that I love that my opinion is genuine and true. I came across Nicolet Beauty a few months ago. I loved the colors that were made and wanted some lipsticks to add to the store. The first colors I received for my own personal makeup collection were Delano and Yorba Linda. Here are pics below:

Nicolet Beauty Matte Lipstick in Delano

Nicolet Beauty Matte Lipstick in Yorba Linda

After trying these on, I must say I was sold. The formula used to make these causes the shades to appear matte. But they are very moisturizing on the lips and last all day long. Shortly after placing this product in my store, I started to get an overwhelming response. Since then, people have been ordering these lipsticks left and right. I honestly can't keep them in stock long at all. There are 16 shades total. Several of their shades are sold exclusively through my store. Those shades are Braemar, Portola, Arcadia, and Sorel. The colors seriously just get more amazing each time a new color comes out. If you have not tried these lipsticks out, now is your chance. I have bundled together, along with my Brand Ambassador Kaylin (@hotglamreviews) to create a dupe for the new Kylie Jenner lippies. The shades in this trio are Lodi (limited edition), Camarillo, and Naomi. They're priced at $26 bucks and you can use Kaylin's discount to knock off 15%. KaylinMUA. Definitely act on this product. The website to my store is www.alyjaebeauty.com. These lipsticks are truly wonderful. Here are a few more pics of some of the shades they have. Let me know what you all think!!

Stay Beautiful,

Aly

Liquid Lipstick Obsession Part 2: Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips

I honestly think the funniest thing in the world is the fact that I have to break this post up in several parts. That is how you know the obsession is real. So, all about Colourpop. It took me a while to purchase from Colourpop. Don't ask why. But now that I am on the bandwagon, The first shade I bought was zipper. A wonderful purple shade.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Zipper

This colour is everything. I also really like the formula. I love that the color pay off is super intense. I also love that it feels comfortable on the lips after it dries. I know there are some liquid lipsticks are super drying. Colourpop is not one of those brands. I also like that there is very little transfer with this lippie. I definitely did my kiss proof test (on my hand of course) and there was barely any transfer, if at all. I liked it so much that I purchased several more shades today. I purchased Tulle, Kapow, Guess, and LAX. As soon as those come in, I will do swatches and looks with them. But so far, my colourpop experience has been awesome and amazing! Let me know what shades you have from them! Comment below and don't forget to like and follow my blog! Next post will be about Nicolet Beauty Lipsticks!!

My Latest Obsession: Matte/Liquid Lipsticks Part 1: Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick

So, I must say, I don't know when I became obsessed with lipsticks. I generally hoard eyeshadows and almost always ignore my lips. But with the picture overload of matte lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, and crazy wild shades, I have been collecting different brands and different shades for the past 3 weeks. Here are my reviews on the shades I recently picked up!

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks

These lipsticks are like a real tattoo. (Pun Intended). I first saw them while scrolling on IG. I went straight to my local Sephora and purchased Vampira. Here is my first swatch of Kat Von D Vampira

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Vampira

Close up of Vampira

What I love about this liquid lipstick is that the color is seriously intense! I definitely paid for what I got with this product. If I totally think it is worth it to go back and buy more colors, then rest assure that I truly love the product. One thing I did notice is that I had to apply several layers in order to get a richer color. The drying time was also quite lengthy. Granted, I'm rather impatient. It may have only been like 5 minutes to dry. To me it felt like 20. LBS. This clearly didn't stop me from buying the product. Because the very next week, I turned around bought the color Echo.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick- Echo

I never saw myself wearing blue lipstick. But, this color here is everything! A day that I'm just going out and have nothing to do, I'm totally rocking this shade. I feel like colors like this bring out the uniqueness in you. Dare to be bold with this color. When playing with makeup, go all out. This was a fun color for me. Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are $20.00. You can purchase them from www.katvond.com or at Sephora if you're impatient like I am.

Leave comments below! Let me know what your experience was with Kat Von D's lip colors. Part 2 will come tomorrow... All about Colourpop's Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick!!!

Until then my luvs, stay beautiful

Morphe 35O Palette: The Palette of all Palettes

Morphe Brushes 35O Eye Shadow Palette

I have never in my life seen so much of a frenzy over an eye shadow palette. I own quite a few and have paid attention to makeup launches for quite some time now. But the Morphe Brushes 35O Palette takes the cake. There are like several other palettes in the 35 Series. But the 35O was the hottest thing walking. Still is. I first saw the 35O on snapchat thanks to Jaclyn Hill and MannyMUA. I'll blame them for the heightened awareness. LOL! The minute I went to take my talents to Morphe to buy the palette, because let's face it, you all know I LOVE warm colors, It was sold out! I was so upset. I tried to tie myself over with the 35W palette (which I honestly really do like), but it didn't really work. So, I waited. And the minute I got notice of the pre-sale (Thanks Ebony!), I literally pulled over in the Starbucks parking lot I was about to stop at to get my Venti Passion Fruit Iced Tea Lemonade, Sweetened, with 1 pump of Raspberry and Light Ice (Thanks Jaclyn Hill lol) and bought the palette right there from my phone. Nothing mattered at that moment but that palette!

It about 5 days later (along with an additional one that has since been sold. Sorry guys). I literally have not really deviated from this palette yet. I think I have done 2 looks outside of the play I was in back in October (which does NOT count) that did not involve the Morphe 35O palette. I mean, there are 35 shadows in this palette. I can do so many different looks with it. Plus it's still technically fall. So, I mean really. Why wouldn't you use this palette right now? I will probably use this thing year round to be very honest with you. LBVS!!!
One look with Palette

Now, here comes the important part, the specs! I'm only 4'11 which means my T-Rex size arms won't allow the space I need to swatch all 35 colors. So I swatched as many as I can. Bare with me now. The metallics/shimmers are first. My favorite is the lower right corner metallic orange/red shade. It is EVERYTHING!!! Spray some M.A.C. Fix + on a flat shadow contour brush and it might as well be burnt orange aluminum foil on your eyelids. It is absolutely gorgeous. I have no idea what Morphe did, but THEY DID THAT with this shadow. I seriously cannot get enough of it. I have to force myself not to use it so that the other shadows in the palette don't feel neglected. I can say that all but one (The second from the left) are all very creamy in texture. The one that is not as consistent as the other shimmers/metallics I don't really use. It feels kind of gritty when you touch it and has a lot of fall out. I honestly believe that a lot of the lighter shades in any eye shadow palette have this issue. I had a similar issue with the lightest shade in the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. It's not unusable. Just be careful with it. I would probably only use it for an inner corner highlight anyway.

Shimmer Metallic Swatches with and without flash

The more matte shades all have different consistencies which is not really a bad thing. Some are really base or transition colors. They don't really need to have a lot of pigment. The darker or more orange shades have more pigment. This makes since because they would be use for more bolder statements such as a pop of color or smokey eye effect. I pretty much love all of them. I can't say that any of them have upset or disappoint me in any way. Here are the swatches of the more matte shades. The one to the far right looks more satin to me. But I put it in this category because it is close on color to my favorite shade in the palette and I wanted it to stand out on it's own. I will be using this color in a look very soon.

Matte/Satin Shades with and without flash

All in all, I would give this palette two very enthusiastic thumbs up. They are still sold out of the palette. But no worries. The 35O palette is a permanent product at Morphe and will be back in stock. I would suggest doing what I did if you have not purchased it yet. I would stalk Morphe's Instagram page and patiently wait for the product to be available again. I am in the works of trying to get a hold of their eye shadow palettes in general to add to my online store, www.alyjaebeauty.com. Right now, the 35O is not available to retailers. The minute it is though is the minute it will be added to the store. Stay tuned for more information!! Comment below if you have any questions.

Until next time beauties,

Bella and Bear Makeup Brush Review

You all know I have a thing with brushes. So when I stumbled onto Bella and Bear, I jumped at the chance to try them out. Bella and Bear is a fairly new company that specializes in makeup brushes. They have a full 15 piece set and a different variety of sets. I received the Cat’s Eye set that features 5 brushes for eye makeup and a Kabuki foundation brush. I fell in love with the Kabuki brush fairly quickly. The bristles are very dense which gives the flawless airbrush finish. It also doesn’t soak up a lot of the product. I really loved how gentle this brush felt as well. Needless to say, I have not stopped using it to apply my foundation since I received it.

Used Bella and Bear Kabuki Foundation Brush to apply Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation in 173.

The Cat’s Eye set had some of my favorite types of brushes in it. The tapered blending brush… You all know how much I love tapered blending brushes. This too did not soak up a lot of the product and made blending out the harsh lines very easy. The flat shadow concealer brush applies the eyeshadows so effortlessly. I feel like it made the eyeshadow brighter because all of the product goes on the eye and doesn’t stick to the brush. Great consistency Bella and Bear. The dual end eyebrow/spoolie brush gave me life after first use!!! My eyebrows have never been perfect with a brush. I typically use pencils. But this brush is so perfect, it’s hard to mess up. Extremely hard. The pencil brush is amazing as well. I’ve been obsessed with it since I used it. I even paid more attention to my bottom lash line just so that I could use it. I won’t lie and say that I used the angled shadow brush a lot. I used it once. I will definitely do a look with it however.

Used Bella and Bear Cat's Eye 5 piece set to apply Morphe 35W Eyeshadow Palette

All in all, I give this company two thumbs up. I would say my only con with it was that the new brush smell was slightly overwhelming. The smell did go away after a few uses. But it is not a major issue or something that will prevent me from using them and buying more in the future. Bella and Bear gave me a code to give you all for you to purchase your own. Use ALYJAE10 at check out to receive 20% off of your purchase. This code won’t last long however.Bella and Bear website!! So use it while you can! Until next time loves, stay beautiful.
